RESPECT Is Different From Blind Obedience!

RESPECT IS DIFFERENT FROM BLIND Obedience! So many dog owners know it is impossible to train a dog that respects you. You can never teach a dog that you are in charge or that you are the leader because they see you as a stranger and not a leader.

Dogs understand the difference between YOU and them. They understand that you are part of their pack, so they come to you for shelter, love, food, etc.
So when you get your dog through the door at the kennel, it is NOT all about obedience or positive reinforcement, it is about RESPECT. And that respect has nothing to do with winning the obedience title at the end of the day. RESPECT!

You will find that an "OK" with NO RESPECT placed on your hand is just as effective and safe as an "OK" with NO RESPECT placed on your hand. I have had dogs with both labels. And I understand the differences between the two. I understand that the dog will always respect the owner that teaches it respect, regardless of how YOU behave.

For a dog that is learning blind obedience, without that leadership training that will teach it respect, a blind association with "OK" will never work. So you must train your dog to understand that all humans are respected and they should follow your lead without begging.

You want to train your dog to see you as the leader. You want to train your dog to understand that you are not a stranger. This will be YOUR dog. You should never shout at your dog. You should never shout at other dogs either. But you should be giving praise and treats every time your dog does something right.

And you should be giving lots of praise to your dog when it does what you ask of it. When it does the right thing, it should not be punished, it should be rewarded. When it does the wrong thing, it should be rewarded.
