Honey

in #research6 years ago

Hello Steemians, today is another of our journey into nature’s golden nectar.
We will be looking into why honey has lost his value in our contemporary lives. Honey as we talked about was a major sweetener used by people till the 19th century, but then its use went down as new and alternative ones came to the picture. Some of the new and alternatives to honey were sugar which came from sugarcane, agave nectar, maple syrup and molasses. Despite its decline as a sweet syrup, honey was still used as a healing agent for some time. Poultices with honey were used to heal soldiers’ wounds in the first two world wars with good success rates.

Honey as an antibiotic

But our precious honey could not compete with the fast progress of modern medicine and the wide introduction of almost ‘miraculous’ antibiotics in the 1950’s, which could treat almost any bacterial infection, which slowly ended the use of honey as a common household and hospital remedy.
However, due to the liberal use of antibiotics which has led to antibacterial resistance, medical practitioners have picked an interest on using honey again as an antibiotic and a healing agent.

Very informative post and I must say I'm learning a lot from your research about honey. You know what? I tried one of your test methods used to verify if honey is pure. I dipped a match stick in the honey we have at home and it lit when I struck the match box with it.
Thanks for the info.

You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it.

very informative,thanks for sharing

THIS WAS THE MOST INFORMATIVE THING I READ ON THE INTERNET TODAY

I glad I wrote an informative post.

Honey is one of the natural antibacterial & anti biotics. It has so many health benefits medicinally , hollistic well being and even cosmetics.
I read in one article that honey doesn't expire, and you can keep it on your household for long years.
Honey also was mentioned in our holy book of Qu'ran.... ( Subhan'allah Al hamdulillah ).

Yes it's true honey cannot expire. It could be used for longer years. Thanks for the information.

Honey really does have a lot of benefits. But the ones we get to buy are usually diluted.
