This is a very nice post on Snips and you do a good job of pointing out just how much of an effect one small (single nucleotide) change in a persons genome can result in a large downstream effect!
yes, such is the case in diseases triggered by such single mutations, like the case of cystic fibrosis or sickle cell anemia. But in many other case you could counteract potential drawbacks of genetic mutations with lifestyle interventions: knowing that you have a deficiency in a gene responsible with fat metabolism may not negatively impact your life if you make appropriate diet decisions...
