An intriguing thing about this chapter of the Bible is that the Spirit of God actually led Jesus Christ into the wilderness:

Then Jesus was led by the [Holy] Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil- Matthew 4: 1.

Notably, Jesus Christ had to experience the wilderness before His launch into ministry. This imply that in our walk with God, we would at a time or another experience the "wilderness". This is where we are groomed in character, self-control an our total dependence on God is tested. These virtues were tested of Christ while in the wilderness.

David knew this that is why he prayed in Psalm 23 that God will be with him through the "valleys of the shadows of death". God will not stop us from the wilderness, rather He will lead us through, only that we have to learn to trust and depend on Him and His word in every step of the way as Christ did.

As we read this read this chapter, may we open up our hearts and minds and allow God to work through us and prepare us to fit for his calling and service.

Why do you think the disciples Followed Jesus immediately without much questioning?

Christ Jesus had pleased the Father by not giving into the schemes of the devil. God had already made a recommendation of Him (Christ) and even the disciples had no option (though they weren't physically present at theat time at Jordan). Mark's account in his 9th chapter, verse 7

And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

When we raise God up in our character and attitude, He will always draw men to himself because we might have become a living epistle that others would read and see virtue in us.
