Revelation chapter 12.png

The Woman, the Child, and the Dragon.png

  1. Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.

  2. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth.

  3. And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.

  4. His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.

  5. She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne.

  6. Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

  7. And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought,

  8. but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.

  9. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

  10. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

  11. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

  12. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”

  13. Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child.

  14. But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

  15. So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.

  16. But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.

  17. And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

In Revelation chapter 12, John sees the vision of a woman "clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars" (Revelation 12: 1). Notice the similarity between this description and the description given by Joseph to his father Jacob (Israel) and his mother and children (Genesis 37: 9-11). The twelve stars refer to the twelve tribes of Israel. So the woman in Revelation is Israel.
The additional evidence for this interpretation is that Revelation 12: 2-5 speaks of the woman with a child and giving birth. While it is true that Mary gave birth to Jesus, it is also true that Jesus, the Son of David from the tribe of Judah, came from Israel. In a sense, Israel gave birth - or brought to light - Jesus Christ. Verse 5 says that the child of the woman "will rule all nations with a rod of iron; and his son was caught up to God and to his throne. "This clearly describes Jesus Christ. Jesus ascended to heaven (Acts 1: 9-11) and one day He will establish His kingdom on earth (Revelation 20: 4-6), and He will rule it with perfect judgment (the "iron rod" - see Psalm 2: 7 -9).The woman's flight into the desert for 1,260 days refers to the future time called the Great Tribulation. One thousand two hundred and sixty days is 42 months (30 days each), which is the same as 3 ½ years. In the middle of the Great Tribulation period, the Beast (the Antichrist) will place an image of himself in the temple to be built in Jerusalem. This is the abomination that Jesus spoke in Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14. When the Beast does this, it will break the covenant of peace that it had made with Israel, and the nation will have to flee to protect itself - possibly Petra (see also Matthew 24, Daniel 9:27). This flight from the Jews is illustrated as the woman fleeing into the desert.

5 She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne.

This passage describes with simplicity the Ascension of Christ. And the book of Revelation is the revelation of the ascended Christ, of the glorified Christ, of the Christ who comes in glory and majesty. The book of Revelation is based on the fact that He has ascended, that He is in Heaven, and that He will one day return as sovereign King over all the nations of the earth.

The prophecy of John in chapter 12 conveys the same essential message as Daniel 7; The main difference between the two is that John writes after the first coming, the victorious death, the resurrection and the ascension of Christ.
Verses 1.17 relate:
1.- the war continues on the earth

  1. The victory over the redeemed, because the kingdom has come
  2. The double truth that his victories often cost him martyrdom, the reason for his triumph: the cross, the blood of the lamb and the authority of the word of God
Several systems of interpretation place this at different times within redemptive history, the mix of premillennial, amillennial, and post-millennial viewpoints has often divided the church, rather than providing a common base for each group to approach. to the others, although at present, we all face a common adversary
Since no pattern of interpretation could be verified before Christ comes, it would be wiser if we embraced the cross as our salvation and as our source for victory, so we would enter the conflict confidently knowing that we will triumph, even when circumstances temporarily make us go back
@relicuary and brothers in times of tribulation there is no difference, only one thing matters, that we are on the side of the messiah in this spiritual struggle of the ages.

This chapter is interesting, some Christian astronomers say that this event happened on September 23, 2017 due to the alignment of planets, stars and the formation of costlassions
