ROMANS CHAPTER 12.png

Living Sacrifices to God.png

  1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

  2. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

  3. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

  4. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,

  5. so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.

  6. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;

  7. or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching;

  8. he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

  9. Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.

  10. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;

  11. not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;

  12. rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;

  13. distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

  14. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

  15. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

  16. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.

  17. Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.

  18. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

  19. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

  20. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”

  21. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

If you ask me for a brief summary of what Christianity means, I am definitely talking about this chapter of the book of Romans, duties and more duties, action, love, adoration, mercy, etc.

Chapter 12 of Romans is one unique chapter that wraps up God's demand for the New creation man. In the first 2 verses of this chapter, I had these lessons:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, ...

The above phrase reminds me of the laws that governed sacrifices and offerings in the book of Leviticus. I see God re-echoing His name as One full of mercy like He told Mose in Exodus 33 & 34. This attribute points to His readiness to help us undergo this process to perfection. We do not need to depend on our strengths , rather see His mercies that are new every morning.

...that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

The call to present our bodies as living sacrifices shows God's freewill granted to man. It is our responsibility to PRESENT. Our bodies would not come to God willingly because of the fleshly desires, it requires our determination to bring it before the Lord so He can make it a holy sacrifice. Our willingness to present is what God will act on.

And do not be conformed to this world,...

We are admonished not to be like the world. God knew that each day, the world system will keep deteriorating. Reason Jesus prayed for His disciples that God would keep us in this world. The world's perspective of reasoning, and patterns of doing things is at variance with God, we have to seek to know the difference.

... but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,

Our consciousness should be in the renewal of our minds on the word and knowledge of God through His Spirit. Each day, we should be conscious of screening our lives based on the demands of God's word so we know where we failed and where we should improve.

...that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

It is in the searching and examining of our lives based on God's word that we'll be able to prove and live out the will of God.

Summarily, a sacrifice is dead and we have to be dead to flesh and become alive in God so we can live out God's purpose.

God help us.

Paul exhorts Christians to live in pleasing holiness before Christ, that is to say in a living sacrifice we must offer our bodies, everything we are every day to God, as an act of adoration
Paul invites us to live with humility and faith in our Christian relationships, just as the body is made up of several members, each with a different function, the church is a body with many members, each with individual roles and responsibilities, but all intimately related as a unit in Christ. We should not consider ourselves in a superior position, nor diminish the role of others.
Paul refers to his own function in the body as an apostle with authority for the grace that is given to me, the measure of faith does not allude to the faith of salvation, but to the faith that accompanies receiving and using the gifts that God gives us. gives.
"The measure of faith" that the Lord offers corresponds to the functions he assigns as creator and redeemer.
Our different gifts and abilities should make us more loving and dependent on each other, and, therefore, more united as a body in Christ.

The Lord wants us to fully exploit the gifts He has given us. Because He has given it to us because he knows and knows our virtues, and he knows that in that we can handle ourselves very well, therefore we do not extinguish the gift he has given us, but by the contrary we must activate them every day more ... finally we He exhorts us not to pay evil with evil, but to do good even if they have done us wrong, in this way we are showing the love of Christ in our lives and our life....

In ancient times animals were offered as sacrifices, but God wants us to offer ourselves in living sacrifice, that is to say in holiness, transformed through a renewed mind, in the good, pleasant and perfect will.
By the grace of God, no one should have a concept of Yes higher than he should have, without him we are nothing. It is because of his mercy that he gives us the courage.

Before believing in Christ, we use our body to commit all kinds of sin, but now that we belong to God, we must use our body for the glory of Him. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit

God transforms our minds and makes us spiritually firm through the use of His Word.

blessings and that follow the success

"He who exhorts, in the exhortation." And here it refers to the one who comforts, the one who encourages. There are some people who have the gift of being able to encourage or comfort others, the sick or others who suffer from various causes.
