Matthew Chapter 7 (AMP)

Judging Others - Prayer - The Golden Rule - Wise proverbs

1

  1. “Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly].

  2. For just as you [hypocritically] judge others [when you are sinful and unrepentant], so will you be judged; and in accordance with your standard of measure [used to pass out judgment], judgment will be measured to you.

  3. Why do you look at the [insignificant] speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice and acknowledge the [egregious] log that is in your own eye?

  4. Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me get the speck out of your eye,’ when there is a log in your own eye?

  5. You hypocrite (play-actor, pretender), first get the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

  6. “Do not give that which is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, for they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

  7. “Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.

  8. For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened.

  9. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will [instead] give him a stone?

  10. Or if he asks for a fish, will [instead] give him a snake?

  11. If you then, evil (sinful by nature) as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him.

  12. “So then, in everything treat others the same way you want them to treat you, for this is [the essence of] the Law and the [writings of the] Prophets.

  13. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it.

  14. But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it.

  15. “Beware of the false prophets, [teachers] who come to you dressed as sheep [appearing gentle and innocent], but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

  16. By their fruit you will recognize them [that is, by their contrived doctrine and self-focus]. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?

  17. Even so, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the unhealthy tree bears bad fruit.

  18. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

  19. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

  20. Therefore, by their fruit you will recognize them [as false prophets].

  21. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.

  22. Many will say to Me on that day [when I judge them], ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, and driven out demons in Your name, and done many miracles in Your name?’

  23. And then I will declare to them publicly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me [you are banished from My presence], you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].’
    The Two Foundations

  24. “So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, will be like a wise man [a far-sighted, practical, and sensible man] who built his house on the rock.

  25. And the rain fell, and the floods and torrents came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

  26. And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them, will be like a foolish (stupid) man who built his house on the sand.

  27. And the rain fell, and the floods and torrents came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great and complete was its fall.”

  28. When Jesus had finished [speaking] these words [on the mountain], the crowds were astonished and overwhelmed at His teaching;

  29. for He was teaching them as one who had authority [to teach entirely of His own volition], and not as their scribes [who relied on others to confirm their authority].

It would be 'foolish' not to Brother Tikhub. Be sure to build your house upon the stone and when the time comes - take the narrow gate.

Steemchurch and @reliquary makes the Bible reading easy and simple..

As I read ,We should not just use the name of our lord for using make but rather do according to His well in order for us not to be a sign board....Jesus is coming

I must say that you are really doing a great work in sharing the chaptees of the Bible. Kudos to you!

This particular chapter of the bible has just opened my eyes and mind to many things I never knew and has also given me strong assurances of a better life tomorrow.

MY LESSONS:

  • Do not be in a hurry to judge others: Christ alone is the only true and righteous judge. No man has the right to condemn or judge others as they themselves are not 100% perfect. Many judge others just to make themselves feel better when they actually are not. They seem to forget that God cannot be deceived. So, beloved, let's not alwats be in a hurry to condemn others rather we should humbly correct.

  • Worrying is not the answer: Worrying does not in any way solve any problem rather it adds to it. Many believers seem to not know this and this makes them to spend their supposed praying times worrying. God has assured us all of divine protection and provision; why not we key into it and desist from worrying.

Worry steals your joy.

  • Bear good fruits to avoid being cut off.

There are many benefuts attached to reading the gospel of Matthew and the bible at large as more things will be revealed to us.

My first lesson:

“Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly] - Matthew 7: 1

This reminds me of my morning devotion today in Luke 15: 11- 32. Tyhe emphasis as it relates to the above verse is on v28-30 where the Elder brother (to the prodigal son) yearned abuses on the life of the younger. He displayed anger, jealousy, ignorance, bitterness and self-righteousness. To me, he never loved the younger brother. Sometimes we, like the elder brother despise the saving grace upon the life of a sinner. We wished we make heaven alone. God help us repent from this way.

My second lesson:

If you then, evil (sinful by nature) as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him - Matthew 7: 11.

Christ emphasized that if we returned to God and go to him with our tears, he will in no wise cast us away. This implies that our breakthrough and blessings is just a step away if we ask, seek and knock.

Thank you @reliquary.

On the issue of asking, many people seem to not know when to ask for a particular thing. God will not hand you something He very well knows will not benefit you or make you grow. So, in asking, ask wisely.

great teaching, we are happy to be able to read the bible daily thanks to this initiative

Good to have you here Milagros!

Yeah @sirknight has done a very great thing.

I like to read the bible in this way.

We must be rooted in Christ, our rock, only then can we withstand any storm that comes into our lives and we will stand firm. It also teaches us to see our mistakes instead of criticizing the mistakes of others, let's examine first and if there is something that does not please God, take it out of our lives!

The book of Matthew is the first fruits of teaching as disciples, it teaches us the miracles Jesus did and teaches us how he wants our life to be in Christ.

Imagine a World where Everyone simply obey and follow this instructions. Well, that World is Heaven!

I love the gospel of Matthew so much that it made me relief of things I thought wouldn't pave way for. I also love Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it shall be given unto you........."
One need to be conversant of the words in Matthew because it gives hope to things we don't expect.
