RE: I and the Father are One - Trinity - Truth or Tradition

in #religion7 years ago (edited)

I'm sorry I don't see how believing in the Trinity draws one away from God. Fact is, hundreds of millions of Trinity believers including myself have been filledd with the Spirit and have known God personally over the last 2,000 years.

The belief in the Trinity is based on numerous scriptures, such as Rev. 22:13 where Jesus states " I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." No one but God can make such a statement about themselves.

Sort:

The Scriptures clearly tell us that there is only one God and that God is the Father alone. The Trinity is read into Scripture by the traditions of men. If you believe that Jesus is God, then you worship another in God's place. You create a false God. God is not divided in any way. This is why I am here: to help shine light on this topic and lead others to truth.

For example, You said "No one but God can make such a statement about themselves." But is this true? Is it Scriptural based? No. You are assuming that only God can can claim that title because of tradition.

Jesus was chosen before all things to finish all things. This does not make him God. We have to understand the context of what is being said and not let a couple of obscure verses overpower hundreds of clear ones.

We must understand God in truth in order to worship God in truth.

Matthew 7:14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Rev. 22:4 is blasphemous to be stated by any one but the God of the universe. Explain how it is otherwise not and acceptable by Jesus to say without being blasphemy. And there is nothing obscure about it, it is clear enough, obscure cannot be used when something clearly contradicts what one has previously believed and cannot be explained.

Most all of the proof texts for Jesus not being God deal with the Human Jesus, who was inferior to the Father and therefore was His God. After the resurrection He became both fully God and fully Man, the firstborn of many brethren, willingly subjecting Himself in this role to the Father, thus the Father is still His God.

Most all the early church fathers and apologists also taught that Jesus is God, the writings are still in existence today, that is the actual christian tradition concerning the Trinity, in actuality the denial of such was barely know until Aryus started teaching it in the 4th century, whom of course you are aware of.

There are a number of other scriptures besides Rev. 22 that can only be applied to both Jesus and the Spirit if they were God, this is a subject which I have thoroughly studied having grown up a Jehovah's Witness only having heard the one-sided explanations for their beliefs. Only after listening to the opposing views on this and the other matters I came to the undoubtable conclusion that they are a much deceived group..
