Do We Need To Search The Scriptures?

Act 17:10

Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.

Act 17:11

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

Act 17:12

Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.

In my early days of conversion to Christianity, I thought that whoever stood and preached on the pulpit was qualified to do so and hence whatever he said was correct. It took me time to learn otherwise after listening to different preachers with diverse interpretations of the Word.

As Christians, we should follow the example of the Jews of Berea who congregated in the synagogues with the purpose of searching the scriptures before believing the message.

Verse: 11 tells us that first, the Jews received the word with all readiness, then searched the scriptures before converting to Christianity.

Verse: 12 mentions that some Greeks, prominent women as well as men were converted. This shows us that it wasn't just blind faith that they decided to follow Christianity but accepted Christianity after extensive study of the scriptures.

I have done that, you can do same too

Yes, we definitely need to search the Scriptures. But we must also rightly divide the word of truth by being a diligent worker who is not ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15).

I have a recent post which presents the tools and resources that are essential for interpreting the Word of God. I hope that you take a few minutes to read it over. I am sure it will bless you.

Thank you for the compliment @morakinyo

Any time when interpretations are out of our reach the best teacher is holy ghost! My grand mother have thought me that all human will have different understanding and interpretations for a holy biblic sentences! Only a person who are blessed with holy ghost can help to interpret the right meaning of it. I believe in that. When we listen or hear gospels what best we can do is to pray to holy ghost and request for help to understand it better!

When we are in GOD then there is no need of any preparation and worries about the last days! Live a life as though there is no tomorrow! Well tats the best plan!

Every day all we need is to try to make a better place, have faith, love! Rest all the almighty will take care! Glory to GOD in the highest! Have blessed days ahead for all!

So right @haizil. The Holy Spirit is the final authority when it comes to the interpretation of God's word
