PRAYER IS THE KEY.

in #religion8 years ago (edited)

Long ago, preaching was not so nice and cute.

"Pastor" was a derogatory term people used to isolate those they thought were dull in the head, poor in dressing, had awkward social skills, ranked of body odor and spoke about God with bad breath and saliva foaming at the edge of their mouth.

If you stood and started talking about God or salvation, heads will turn away in disgust. People will scoff, pass by and you'd be talking to an empty room in a few minutes.

I know the message on hell was mainly why being a preacher of that sort was repulsive. It hardly described a God that could save people.

But somehow, talking about God in focused group discussions, praying in nice little fellowships with brothers and sisters holding hands, speaking the Greek and Hebrew of scriptures has become something admirable.

The church has found a way to make the gospel an existential reality that co-exists immiscibly with being intellectual, being socially adept and being excellent in an increasingly secular world.

So yes! It has become woke to preach...to break revs...to have lots of reactions on Facebook from talking about God. Almost everybody has something mind blowing say about God and the Bible...even Daddy Freeze.

This is why you have to be quite careful too. Not everyone with a nice profile that says "I'm Christo-centric" is truly a brother with integrity who won't lie to you about being single. They might ask you out on Facebook only for you to realize they have a family offline.

There are "rev breakers" on Facebook who still have abundant activities on pornographic pages. And while you seek counselling from them because you suppose they have let Grace work grindingly on their morals, they are just babies too, dealing with lusts and lying and slandering and the things that they should have matured from if they heard more of the messages that they themselves preached.

Talk is cheap. And anybody can talk. Anybody can post up things in the new "wokeness" that preaching has become.

Social Media is a canvass where people can make you believe anything about them that they want you to. And it's easy to think they are spiritually matured because they constantly say "God bless you at the end of their posts", share posts from Kenneth Hagin and Oyedepo, " retweet from church conferences like WAFBEC. etc

People leave the brothel these days and give another "rhema" on Twitter. You are there reading, following, nodding; wanting to have the contact of these amazing word guys...until you realize after a conversation or two that they bring in some strange vibes to your enthusiasm, spirituality and faith.

Some people still need to be taught rather than teach.

Some saints hurry out of word conferences half-baked and are like the lame man at the beautiful gate. They are not in the world but not yet settled the church. They tent at the gate.

They are "sharing rhemas" but halt and lame; dysfunctional; limping in one area where they need to walk just as much as the audience who adore them.

Be discerning! There are dysfunctional media 'pastors' everywhere!

Chill! Don't be too quick to adore, to fawn, to like, to love, to celebrate, to follow.

Breathe. Watch. Pray.

My "one kobo" comment.
