RE: Breaking the Habit of Self-Destruction

in #religion8 years ago (edited)

The messages are many, but I would encourage you to study the Scriptures.

What says the word of God?

Does this teacher teach from the Word with proper context and references?

Or is his rhetoric lacking in sound Biblical support?

Does Joel teach when we will be blessed? As in, will it be in this life or in heaven?

Sometimes true promises are presented out of context. Again search and study the Scriptures.

"You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions." James 4:3 (ESV)

Also see: Matthew 7:15-20

Thank you for your post. If I may add information to your reply above. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are to 'grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.' The spiritual gift of Pastor-Teacher is given in order to bring believers to maturity. They are refered to as shepherds, bishops, and Pastor-Teachers. Ephesians chapter4.verses10-16. and elsewhere. Second Peter, chapter2 warns the believer of false teachers. The late R.B.Thieme, Jr. presented a filter called ICE ....Isagogical, Catagorical, Exegetical teachings from the original scripture as the guide for selection of whomever is the Pastor-Teacher for you. Whilst also pointing out that Paul and others had non face to face congregations, thus the letters/epistles to various places. Therefore, it may be that one's Pastor-Teacher may be found online or through other media outlets.

Thank you for this additional information @bleujay.
