RE: Were the seven days of creation in Genesis seven twenty four hour periods? - Some conclusions

in #religion7 years ago (edited)

How much degree is the question I suppose e.g Jonah spent 3 days in the whale and Jesus spent 3 days in hell - that is a clear correlation and the bible makes it very clear that there is a connection.

The sign that the below verses are referring to is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Just as Jonah spent 3 days in the whale and lived - Jesus spent 3 days in the depths of the earth and rose again.

Matt 16:14 - A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

Luke 11:29 - And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.

Matt 12:39 - But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

This is just one biblical example of how numerology can be correctly applied.

A number of supporters of this post, including the author are Chaldean numerologists.

What does the bible tell us about the Chaldeans?

The bible repeatedly tells us that the Chaldeans are symbolic of Babylon.

Isaiah 13:19 - and Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

Isaiah 47:1 - Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.

Isaiah 47:5 - Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.

Isaiah 48:14 - All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.

Isaiah 48:20 - Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

Daniel 5:30 - In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

The Chaldeans influenced Nebuchadnezzar’s decision to throw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fiery furnace.

Daniel 3:8 - Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.

The Chaldeans were associated with the magicians, astrologers, soothsayers and scientists that served Babylon.

Daniel 4:7 - Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.

Daniel 5:7 - The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Daniel 5:11 - There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

Daniel 1:4 - Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

Daniel 2:10 - The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.

The bible repeatedly associates Chaldeans with Babylon. I don’t want anything to do with Babylon.

I believe the bible, and the bible is very clear - Chaldeans do the devils work.

Some people go way, way overboard with numbers. They find correlations that simply aren’t there and then they build doctrines around their worldviews. Satan loves it.

I’ll leave if to others to follow Chaldean/Babylonian numerology. I’ll stay grounded in clear scripture.

The question that everyone should really be asking is ‘what must I do to be saved’ - if a Chaldean numerologist is deceived on numbers it does not mean that they aren’t saved (if they believe the correct gospel).

All of the other doctrines are relatively minor when compared to salvation - get that one wrong and you’re cooked, literally.
