Matthew 5:44 Explained

in #religion7 years ago

In Matthew 5:44 you read that Our Lord said “Love your enemies”.

This is often misunderstood. When Our Lord said to “Love your enemies”, it was for a VERY SPECIFIC reason.

Your enemies help you learn, and force you to grow and mature. In the same way consecutively higher hurdles on a racetrack force you to be stronger and jump higher, so too does your enemy bring out strength in you.

Should you give your last morsel of food and only pair of shoes to the man who wants you dead? No, unless it would change his heart and make him no longer your enemy. If he would still spit your name as he chews your food, let him starve!

It is not cruel to withhold blessing from your enemy because in the same way, you learn to be stronger as a result of him… You are teaching him a lesson by not rewarding his evil.

Amazing. Yes, often this is misinterpreted.

Very good teaching

The Lord always taught both wisdom and compassion. He did not teach naivete, however. Why would you fuel the fire that burns you? In all matters, apply discretion.

A true teaching that brings greater clarity to what the Lord was actually saying 2,000 years ago.

A good perspective and clarification. Always pragmatic.
