Elusive Giants Revealed!

Literally, we’re talking real giants. Go ahead, get your geek on.

Scripture is a funny thing, despite all its wise counsel. It covers such a wide range of topics, in so many styles by so many people, across multiple ancient cultures. What’s more, there is an almost endless wealth of revelations to be discovered if you read your bible with the benefit of well-honed reading comprehension. Everyone has different gifts so, hopefully, I can make mine useful to you!

Numbers 13:28
'And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.'

Before I continue, it is best that you understand the preceding context of these correlating verses about the sons of the Anak. That context is the infamous passage of Genesis, regarding those giant beings called Nephilim, the biological offspring of previously angelic males and human females. I will elaborate on the implications of this soon.

Genesis 6:4
'There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.'

Numbers 13:32-33
'And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.'

Deuteronomy 1:28
'Whither shall we go up? Our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.'

Deuteronomy 9:1-3
'Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven, A people great and tall, the children of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak! Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.'

You might be asking, if such a race existed, where did they all go?

Their bloodlines still exist, although weakened and astronomically rare because of what God caused Israel to do to them. The Book of Joshua mentions battling them a few times, but to keep this short, I'll list only one:

Joshua 11:21-22
'And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities. There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.'

So what does all this mean? The word Elohim, which was the original Hebrew word interpreted as God by most, is actually one name of a very dominant angelic race. Other cultures, such as Sumer, Babylon, and Mesopotamia knew these Elohim/Anak as Anunnaki. Anakim is used to describe their descendants. In Hebrew words, the suffix "-im" is strictly plural.

These angels, or aliens, if you prefer a contemporary synonym, descended to Earth from Heaven. In Hebrew language and culture, to say something "descended" is heavily biased as meaning a fall from grace. The fathers of those giant hybrids, those Nephilim did, in fact, come from elsewhere, a spiritually and literally higher place in the Kingdom of God. That literal descent was not the sin, however. Their sin was adulterating the genetics of two species, irresponsibly creating a race of creatures so powerful and so violent that they needed to be culled by an apocalyptic flood. If you read the accounts of other ancient cultures who knew and wrote the history of these beings, you would know that not all of them were killed by the flood.

Noah's family was not the only surviving group, which is why scripture never specifically claims they were. After all, why would the Hebrews from the time of Moses to the conquests of Joshua speak of defeating a race by the same alien ancestry and description as the Nephilim? Clearly, some were spared to build massive cities and more legends.

When I next approach this subject, we can have a look at what set these people apart from the others in Judea at that time. You know, aside from that tiny part about them being FREAKING GIANTS. We'll also look at the proof that they were inarguably real.
