Hello fellow Steemians!
This past Friday, I caught a cold, which turned into a severe sore throat (at this current moment). I am praying for a quick turnaround in healing, as I have some family coming in from Illinois to celebrate my birthday this Saturday. Of course, God is sovereign and can do anything He pleases; but, prayer shows our full dependence on Christ and what He can do for us because of His great love and mercy. In our weakness, may He be forever glorified.
The following will be passages in 1 Kings 8:54-63, and today's Our Daily Bread devotional.
54 When Solomon had finished all these prayers and supplications to the Lord, he rose from before the altar of the Lord, where he had been kneeling with his hands spread out toward heaven. 55 He stood and blessed the whole assembly of Israel in a loud voice, saying:56 “Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses. 57 May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us nor forsake us.58 May he turn our hearts to him, to walk in obedience to him and keep the commands, decrees and laws he gave our ancestors. 59 And may these words of mine, which I have prayed before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God day and night, that he may uphold the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel according to each day’s need, 60 so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God and that there is no other. 61 And may your hearts be fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time.”
62 Then the king and all Israel with him offered sacrifices before the Lord. 63 Solomon offered a sacrifice of fellowship offerings to the Lord: twenty-two thousand cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats. So the king and all the Israelites dedicated the temple of the Lord.
A few months ago I received an email inviting me to join a community of “driven people.” I decided to look up the word driven, and I learned that a driven person is someone highly motivated to succeed and who will work hard to achieve his goals.Is it good to be a driven person? There is a test that never fails: “Do it all for the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31). Many times we do things for self-glory. After the flood in Noah’s day, a group of people decided to build a tower in order to “make a name” for themselves (Gen. 11:4). They wanted to be famous and avoid being scattered all over the world. Because they were not doing it for God's glory, though, they were erroneously driven.
In contrast, when King Solomon dedicated the ark of the covenant and the newly constructed temple, he said, “I have built the temple for the Name of the Lord” (1 Kings 8:20). Then he prayed, “May he turn our hearts to him, to walk in obedience to him and keep the commands” (v. 58).When our greatest desire is to bring glory to God and walk in obedience, we become driven people who seek to love and serve Jesus in the power of the Spirit. Let our prayer echo Solomon’s. May our “hearts be fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands” (v. 61).
Father, give me the desire to obey You and do everything for Your glory.
As you work hard to achieve your goals, ask God to give you a humble and obedient heart that is fully committed to Him.

And thank you so much! Yes, I am interested in what you have to share with the sore throat remedy and Vitamin C. I took my daily Vitamin C, and have been doubling it ever since Friday to 1,000 mg!

Great. First thing in vitamin c is you need mega amounts. Especially when you have a sore throat as your stores of vitamin c get depleted quickly. I personally take 5 to 10 grams a day and have for years. I used to get sore throats all the time. I never get them now. If I had a sore throat I would be taking a minimum of 1 gram an hour until I felt better. You need to take a good quality vitamin c too. Most of the stuff sold in stores is synthetic. A health food store should have a better type. It's a lot of info to digest I know. You're best suited to be your own doctor. One more thing on the type of vitamin c to take. You want to take one that is 100% L-ascorbic acid. Not ones that are sodium ascorbate or calcium ascorbate because if you are taking mega grams you don't want to take in extra sodium or calcium. You just want ascorbic acid only not one of the mineral salts of ascorbic acid like sodium ascorbate. I hope that makes sense.
I actually buy and take the one they sell on thevitamincfoundation.org website. I have it auto shipped every month and I take 5 to 10 grams a day. It works out to about 10 cents per gram which is cheap compared to a doctor'$ visit.
