Religion myths or truth? #2 - Did Jesus really ask Judas to betray Him to fulfill prophecy?
Let's start with a scripture from the bible:
Jesus Predicts His Betrayal
John 13:21-22
21 When Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, that one of you will betray Me.”
22 The disciples began looking at one another, at a loss to know of which one He was speaking.
1. What we know.
What we all know is that Judas betrayed Jesus and he received thirty pieces of silver. Judas identified Jesus by kissing him in front of Roman soldiers. Judas later returned the thirty pieces of silver he was given and committed suicide because he felt guilty.
Then one of the twelve called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver (Matt. 26:14-15).
Judas sold his Lord for money . . 30 pieces of silver . . . and then went right out and bought . . . real estate. He wanted to be a property owner:
"Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity" (Acts 1:18).
2. Discovering the Gospel of Judas
The Gospel of Judas is about 26 pages and it was carbon dated to prove its originality.
"I will have to burn the Gospel of Judas in order to be able to date it," said Timothy Jull, a carbon-dating expert at the University of Arizona's physics center. Fifteen hours later, he had a final answer. The text was real.

3. According to the Gospel of Judas
The Gospel of Judas is described as:
"secret account of the revelation that Jesus spoke in conversation with Judas Iscariot during a week, three days before he celebrated Passover."

It clearly describes Judas as the closest friend to Jesus and someone who understood his message.
So what is in the Gospel of Judas? It is a dialogue that claims to be a conversation between Jesus and Judas in which Jesus asks Judas to betray him.
Pagels said the text shows that Christ, in fact, asked Judas to betray him for an undisclosed reason. "The Gospel of Judas does suggest that the betrayal of Jesus is not a reprehensible act, not the act of a traitor, you know, the worst villain in the history of the world, but that it's a secret mystery between him and Jesus," she said.

What really puzzles me is that the author of the "Gospel of Judas" is actually unknown.

the fascinating thing about the accounts is that Jesus tells the John that the one that I give this morsel to is the one, so Jesus gives Judas the morsel .. "a poison pill" in my view that would allow him to fulfill what he was about to do and then Jesus provides to him an imperative, go do what you are to do. Another commentary has it that Judas was attempting to force Jesus into a position in which he would have to take his rightful position as the King of Jerusalem.. there definitely is more to the story than what is typically told
That will mean Jesus knew already and gave him a go ahead?!
exactly .. So, how would a completely all seeing Clairvoyant not know. All things were committed into his hand .. all means all. BTW .. we do the same thing in our own lives .. that is the model .. what have i done to set myself up for betrayal .. trail by fire
