meh, same thing can be said about the invisible people in the sky. the point is that most of the concepts that encompass these beliefs are make-believe — mostly products of group ideologies that have no basis in reality.

We know for a fact for example that a priest can "cure" someone who is troubled psychologically as much as a "psychologist". A pet can do the same thing. No statistical significance on the impact. Yet, we "believe" that one works and another doesn't.

same applies with sacrificing virgins to make it rain. Sometimes when the sacrifice rhymes by coincidence then the belief takes root. when it doesn't, it was another factor.

heck we can see it even here on Steemit. When China money flooded the market the Steem price rode the wave but some people said that some things were working and could explain the influx of users and rise of price.

The fallacy of religion is a generic one. People believe because they want to believe.
