Reigion is the ultimate excuse

Societys everywhere today operates largely within some religion. and what religion is for most is a lifestyle and a beliefsystem. And most religions is based on old storys thats been retold several times and written down in languages we dont even speak anymore. And we use parts of these storys to make up a belief system that we say others need to follow to "be a good person".

But looking at history thats not even close to true, because wars, killings and grusome acts have been made in the name of various religions. and when you look at the history of knowledge of the natural world and the human body - religion have been the brake on that kinda information to be explored. Churches have been historilcy been oposing scientific development and knowledge to exist outside the chuches walls.

So in these ways Religion is the ultimate excuse for any behaviour. Dont want to care about how thiongs work? Religion tells you "this is how it is", how was the world creted "God made it". Dont like someone and want to kill them? You wil find a story in the religios story that justifys that being done. "he was a sinner" or "he was not following what this text sayes and is thus a bad guy" Dont want people finding out there is better ways to do things? Tell them Religion forbids it or that religion knows best. "you cant posibly understand gods creation, so dont try" Want to start a war? "they dont understand they believe in the "wrong" god, we need to go in an save them"

Now considdering religion is being stuf with 1 set of beliefs, 1 belief system - could you define more then the know concepts as religions? I whould say yes. And I whould also say they we always need to ask questions about everything to not get stuck with 1 set of beliefs.
