DID JESUS DIE TWICE?
According to Genesis 35:22, Jacob had twelve sons including Joseph; And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
Josephs brothers conspired to slay him but Reuben, the eldest decided against it. "...cast him into a pit" was his suggestion. Finally a company of Ishmeelites from Gilead was passing through and Judah said "come and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites..." Midianites merchantmen drew Joseph out of the pit and he was sold to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver. Betrayal.
Crossing testaments, Jesus on the other hand had twelve disciples and one of them betrayed him for thirty pieces of silver just like Joseph was betrayed yet he was one of the twelve brothers. In Matthew 26:14-16; Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him
These close similarities in the Bible make one wonder if one occurrence is a twisted duplicate of the other or both actually happened as laid out in the good book. But what else is similar? The crucifixion of the lamb of the God.
In the book of Genesis 22:1 God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac to Him as burnt offering; And He said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom you lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
Along the way Isaac asked; "Behold the fire and the wood but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?" To which Abraham replied; "My son, God will provide himself a lamb for burnt offering." This would classify the lamb that God later provided before Abraham could put knife to his son as the lamb of God given it was from God himself. Genesis 22:13; And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram. And offered him up for burnt offering instead of his son.
Several years later Jesus was incarnated in Mary's womb by the power of the holy ghost and born to us. He lived a righteous life, was crucified, died and was buried. He rose three days later. He was/is considered Gods one and only begotten son whom He lovest. God sacrificed him for our sake so that we might be saved. It is considered the ultimate sacrifice. All this is similar to Abraham sacrificing his one and only Isaac. To top that up Jesus was referred to as "the lamb of God" by John in John 1:29; The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! Remember Abraham was offered a lamb from God (the lamb of God) to slay.
Once again are these are similar scenarios that either both actually happened or one is a twisted duplicate of the other? When we say "O lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world have mercy on us", are we actually asking for our sins to be cleansed by the blood of a slain sheep or that of Jesus Christ? Why is Jesus referred to as 'the lamb of God' by John? Was his first incarnation into the lamb that Abraham slayed? That'd mean he died twice. The second time marking the beginning of a new covenant with God. If he did die twice then we're waiting for his third coming not the second.
