THE LIFE OF CHRIST

We all love the Christmas story and hold dear the Nativity scene. But Jesus is not a little baby in a manger anymore. So we should not look upon Him just from the earthly viewpoint, but from the heavenly viewpoint, as II Cor. 5:16. says, “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.” (as a mere man).

Luke said that “Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” Lk. 2:52. In other words, as a boy, He developed intellectually, physically, spiritually, and socially.

As a boy, Jesus must have watched His mother kneading dough and patching clothes. And as He grew up He observed farmers, fishermen, and herdsmen. But His insights penetrated beyond the natural unto the spiritual, so that all the world was a demonstration of heavenly correspondences and principals.

No doubt, He helped His step-father, Joseph, in the carpenter’s shop observing and learning many things.

And Jesus surely ran and played with other little Jewish boys in the streets of Nazareth.
Jesus grew up within a small and rather separated or isolated nation, and yet His ideas and words were and still are international and eternal.

He became an adult and set an example for us to follow of being baptized in water by His cousin, John, in the Jordan River.

After fasting for 40 days and nights He refused to turn stones into bread for His own hunger at the suggestion of Satan, but later took five loaves and multiplied it to feed 5,000 fainting listeners.

He suffered cold, heat, hunger, fatigue, physical and emotional pain — all the same frailties as we do -- even temptation!

Heb. 4:15 says, “For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

How can anyone explain the overmastering historical influence of one single man, who never traveled more than about 100 miles from where He was born, nor did any of the other things usually associated with greatness, if He was only the son of a Jewish carpenter?

All the saints will soon be delighted to meet Jesus all over heaven, because He is no longer limited to a single location, and He can move at the speed of thought.
