Miracles and eccentricities

in #religion7 years ago
Today I would like to speak in defense of the true meaning of the word MIRACLE. Recently, reading modern literature and journalism, I noticed that this word (as well as many others) is used completely out of place and the original meaning of it is almost lost. Some climber climbs up to the skyscraper without insurance and improvised means - this event is announced by a miracle, someone will drink 100 mugs of beer at a time - the same. And there was a desire to understand the true meaning of the word.
So what is a MIRACLE. Let's return a little back to our Soviet history and look in the "Soviet Encyclopedic Dictionary", publishing house "Soviet Encyclopedia", Moscow, 1981. This solid edition explains the word MIRACLE:
? In religious and mythological representations a supernatural phenomenon caused by the intervention of deities, otherworldly power.
? (Trans.) Something striking, surprising its unusual.
You will say that I was wrong to write this scribbler, because the dictionary says that I'm wrong. In fact, this interpretation is the fruit of Soviet ideology. People were already divided into two camps. The Orthodox, believing part of our population naturally understood and understands the MIRACLE in the first interpretation. And everyone else forgot the first meaning of this word and focused on the second. But allow me, a man who produces miracles should be called a miracle worker. And who will raise his hand so to write about the aforementioned climber? So all the same, what he did is not the MIRACLE.
Let us turn back a bit back to our pre-revolutionary history. "Complete Church Slavic Dictionary" in 1900 edition defines the word MIRACLE as a surprise, awe; A subject of surprise; Supernatural matter. Those. He interprets the word only in the first Soviet sense. And society understood this word the same way.
But how do we call our climber then? The Russian language is very rich and there was a word for such people. A small word of the language, which was literary until the middle of the XVIII century. This Choud, chud - eccentricity, disgrace. Then it was called so, but now it's a miracle.
There was a simplification of the language, but along with simplification, there was a moral degradation of our society. This is just one example. And you can continue. Replacing some words with others or simplifying their meaning leads to a distortion of moral concepts, a change in social reference points. Assassins, murderers become liquidators, sodomisers - sexual minorities, harlots - night butterflies, etc. And the modern young man who comes to this society, can no longer figure out where the virtue, where the vice, where the good, where the evil. And there's practically no way to find out.
So, gentlemen writing and reading, we sow, and we think that we sow good seeds. And you will have to collect the thorns
