The problem with these scholars is that their sights are too narrow.
There are records in Tibet and Japan that Iesus visited these places.
You can even go visit the final resting place of Iesus and Mary there.
But, even more importantly, when you study Buddhism you discover that there wasn't one Buddha. That the Buddha comes again and again. And the similarities of their lives is extremely striking.
Like it is shown in the movie Zeitgeist, where they go over the Iesus myths and compare it with many other myths, they then come to the conclusion that the Iesus stories where derivative of earlier stories. However, it is much more likely the case that Iesus has appeared many times, always under the same star.
Further, if you really study Buddhism, you will read the New Testament with very different eyes. There are a lot of things that make much more sense when you know the original teachings that molded the way Iesus talked.
