God is in Control Scripture
In todays crazy and even bazaar world it can be easy to question, 'is God in control?', especially when bad things happen.
Examining some God is in control Scripture will hopefully show you that He is indeed in complete control of the heavens and the earth, even over evil spirits.
I don't know why the devil gets the free reign that he does and this question often leads me to another question which is why God doesn't just kill the devil because with God all things are possible.
But killing the devil is an invention of my own and I have to come to trust that God's plan is perfect and always the best way forward, even if we don't know all the whys right now.
By Any Means He Chooses
1 Kings 22:19-23
19 And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
20 And the Lord said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth–gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.
21 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him.
22 And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
23 Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
Ahab, the evil king of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, had gone too far, and God was about to carry out His death sentence upon the wicked monarch.
Micaiah, a true prophet of God, had warned Ahab that he was about to die, but Ahab continued planning his war with Syria.
At this point, Micaiah received a vision of God in heaven asking for volunteers to draw Ahab into this battle in which he would die.
A spirit (an evil deceptive one) stepped forward and volunteered to deceive Ahab by causing his prophets to lie to him.
In the end, Ahab listened to his prophets' lies and it led to his death in battle.
The Lord's Ways Are Mysterious
It seems strange that God would use a deceiver to carry out His divine plan.
The Bible teaches that God by His very nature cannot deceive anyone.
However, the Bible also teaches that God can use any means He chooses to bring His plans to fruition.
We can take comfort in the fact that God asked the spirit, "Wherewith?" before allowing it to work its deception.
This shows us that the Lord has complete authority over everything in creation and that no thing or no one - even evil spirits - can do anything without God allowing it to happen.
Count on it - our God is in complete control.
Jesus in Complete Control and Power
Colossians 1:13-20
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Revelation 1:18
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
God has granted to Jesus Christ all power, control and authority over the heavens and the earth and He even has the keys to hell and death.
Learning to trust this power and control of Jesus can still be difficult when bad things happen, but know that all things work for good and for the ultimate glory of God...
Good For Those Who Love God
Romans 8:26-28
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Faith can be a real delicate matter in times of trouble, but believe that if you overcome your doubts and believe in the power and authority of the Holy One, Jesus Christ, you will get through your hardships and it will help you be closer to Jesus and to God.
Looking at a big picture of the world it can seem that the world is too far gone, but we know as the Lord warned that we will have tribulations, even great tribulations before the time Jesus returns to set the world straight and lock away the devil.
There is also a lot of hopeful things that are happening in the world with regard to the spreading of the Gospel worldwide and many wonderful charitable organizations making a big difference in the world.
In The Beginning...
Genesis 1:1
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
I love this opening statement of the Bible. It is so profound and all encompassing of God's power and control over all creation, the heavens and the earth.
Know for sure that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end and His control over the world is whole, complete and trustworthy.
Revelation 22:13
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
