A New Conscience
Jeremiah 6:15
15 Were they ashamed when they had committed
abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed,
neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall
among them that fall: at the time that I visit them
they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.
God sent the prophet Jeremiah to speak out to a people whose hearts were so hard, who had drifted so far away from their God, who had become so entrenched in their sinful behavior that their consciences were no longer piqued over their sin. They had become so comfortable in their wrongdoing that they couldn't even remember how to blush when confronted about it. The consequences for this loss of conscience would be dreadful.
We live today in a world that is very much like the one in Jeremiah's day. The idea of shame or guilt over sinful behavior is no longer in vogue; many prefer to focus instead on justifying or excusing a bad lifestyle. Even as Christians, it can be too easy to excuse sinful habits and to allow our hearts to become hard and our consciences to become deadened.
The good news is that God has given us a path to a softened heart and a new conscience. It starts with first confessing our known sins and then asking God to reveal things within us that are not pleasing to Him. Pray to Jesus that He will search your heart and make you aware of sins you may be doing or forgotten about. When we do that, we'll find that God will keep the promise He delivered through Ezekiel thousands of years ago...
Ezekiel 36:26
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new
spirit will I put within you: and I will take away
the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give
you an heart of flesh.

Glad you didn't quote the most famous verse from Jeremiah. I remember reading this book and being shocked at how vengeful God was to the people. I still remember the verse and it will not be word for word because it is from memory.
God said, "I will not completely destroy you". Ouch, while most people view this book as constantly giving opportunities for the people to repent I take it as fearing the Lord. There is no way I want to be on God's bad side.
Fear of the Lord is the most healthy attitude :-)
Solomon in Ecclesiastes revealed that having reverential fear for God is the basic duty of man.
In Ezekiel the scriptures reveal that Fathers presense left the temple and therefore would dwell in our bodily tabernacles. Yeshua would baptise his disciples in this spirit. Glory to the king.
It really is like that, brother, nowadays it is called good for bad and bad for good, people wanting to justify their sins, everything makes it look good, and what pleases the Lord makes it look bad, boring, that's why that our society must have a genuine repentance and as you write, confess the sins to the Lord and he will change the hearts.
If in fact, we should always pray to Jesus Christ asking him to give us a new heart and guide us on the path of goodness, leaving us out of all danger. you are so intelegent
Amen.
His mercy goes a long way for mankind. Well said
This is indeed a good way out of the hidden faults within us.
I choose to do this. Am a sinner who needs salvation hand of Jesus christ everyother day.
Thanks @deathlyhorror for the message
God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world...
You are certainly right.
When we read the Bible many times we believe that these behaviors were only in the past and never happened again or that it does not compare with us.
But it is simply a teaching to see what happened and what God thinks about such things.
So this helps us to reflect on our faults or sins, bow to God and listen to his voice, to know what we should improve and change in our lives to please him.
Good message
God bless you @deathlyhorror.
