There are a number of psychological constructs you bring up in this video, but the more prominent one would be Social Identity Theory, this is where there is an ingroup and an outgroup, and how they interact with one another.
A prominent factor in social identity theory is exaggeration of "negative" traits in the out group and also exaggeration of "positive" traits in the ingroup. however what is interesting is when someone meets an"exception" to the rules, that is , a person who is part the ingroup BUT is also part of the out group. this creates cognitive dissonance and the individual finds means of justifying their belief system in quite interesting ways.
the long and short is that although we can identify such behaviors in psychological constructs , it can be difficult to identify them in the field when we experience them ourselves.
