Appearance ain't Everything

in #religion6 years ago

We all know the saying, "do not judge a book by it's cover ." Well just don't, because God made each one of us unique. We as people judge by appearance, and not from whats within. God looks beyond the outside

 I Samuel 16 : 7

"The Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

Appearance can deceive people, but the truth is shown through actions. It is hard to look at someone and not judge them on what they are wearing or how they do stuff. So take your time to get to know someone, they may just learn you a thing or two or bring you down to earth.

 Matthew 23 : 27-28

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness."

Appearance is based on what the newest trend is. We want to follow the rest of the world and do what everyone else does. How we as Christians do things can change our appearance.

When Christ game, He did not have a good appearance.

“He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.” But although Jesus was not particularly attractive physically, His spiritual qualities—kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness, tenderness, and undying love—were obvious to everyone He met and drew them to Him. He is our example."

And to not judge others, we need to change, we need to change the things we think about, or the things do. By following Christ, we will be different than others. And if we follow God, we need to clean our minds, the inner soul.

 Luke 12 : 15

“And He said to them, 'Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses."

Be the better person and learn from others. Don't do unnecessary stuff to impress, do what you need. Do not judge, because your are not in their shoes.

I like this because being different is good. I like these to remind me that I am different and I don't have to be like everyone else. I was called for being who I am.

Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.[a] Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world,[a] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.[b]
