A brief introduction to the benefits of paganism

Hello. My name is Domonique Esquire. Paganism is a liberating way of life. It is how the Europeans lived before Christianity was imposed upon the masses. Paganism is a religion of freedom. I'd like to start off by saying that paganism is a derogatory term founded by the romans in the fourth century. It was used to describe anyone who practiced a non Abrahamic religion, who were usually country peasants. Only in the 20'th century it came to be applied as a term of self description by modern pagans. Also, contrary to popular belief some pagans are monotheists.

Now on to the core of my thesis. Being a pagan in modern times means freedom from inhibitions. Forsooth, living in the modern world we are all familiar with puritan values. "Don't touch each other like that! Don't play around too friendly! Stop masturbating!" All phrases we have probably heard many a time. What paganism teaches us is that its ok to be in tune with your body and its needs. Yes, if you feel aroused it's ok to quell those desires. Be in tune with your body and your natural urges. Don't suppress what your body is trying to tell you it wants. When it comes down to it, should paying for sex really be illegal? I'll let you be the judge of that.

The continuation of life. Now this is a big one. A huge belief that was pushed upon us was that "If you behave and do as the god wants you to, you'll live eternally in ecstasy. If not, you get the consolation prize which is being boiled alive in urine with "satan". All you have to do is take a step back and say, well what if we all exist somewhat in a cycle of eternity and this "life" is the only existence we're faced with? If you look at the Tibetan book of the dead, Hindu reincarnation belief, Buddhist reincarnation, you see a recurring theme of the soul returning to the earth until it becomes perfect and eventually reunites with its source. This idea of death being final is relative mostly to Christianity and Atheists, to the best of my knowledge that is.

Lastly for this thesis I will point out the benefits of being free from dogma. The point of this article is not to completely decry Christianity. I believe there are some thoroughly well meaning and thoughtful people in that religion, among some misguided souls. No, the point I am trying to make is that "Paganism" in a broad sense gives you the freedom to choose which particular Gods you'd like to worship because of course, all Gods are thought forms and benefit from the worship and energy we transfer to them. For example if you believe strongly in freedom feel free to read about the worship of Libertas in the ancient Roman empire and draw energy from her. By the way, who do you think the statue of liberty is supposed to represent? Paganism at its core is about freedom and the connection to the human spirit, the love of nature and the love of the earth.

In conclusion I'd like to say that you should look into paganism and start performing rituals to empower yourself and others. Love is the law.
