STEEM for Social Good -- How we may solve the poverty in the world

in #relief7 years ago

“You have changed lives of 55 people today. They sent you 112 LOVE and 188 PRAYERS. Watch what you changed”

I always imagined a world where the poor gets treated better, not live in a tragedy, live in dignity.

Lets face it, the world today is an unfair world. The unfairness is caused mostly by us. The reason of poverty is not because God sends us limited supply, it is because we want to grab more and more of everything. Also, we fail to distribute the goods appropriately. Amartya Sen actually got a Nobel prize because of his work on the problems of distribution. He said it is not the scarcity that is the problem, it is distribution.

You see the reason why the wealthy people do hesitate to give, is because they are afraid the money will be misused. The reason is not the wealthy is so penny pinching, parsimonious. They are just afraid to look like fools. History is full of mishandlings of innocent donations.

If there could be an easy way to match the needy and the wealthy. We could change the world?

Oh wait, there is a way.

Announcing: Steem for Social Good

Lets try to think about an economy where each participant is happy.

The needy - These people need stuff. Basic necessities. Feeding the baby. A blanket for winter. They will basically post videos of their lives.
We should be asking for proofs like how funds received from Steem changed their lives.

Could you imagine how much happiness could it bring, to watch a person's life changing every day?

There is a way to produce smart vouchers for basic grocery needs like bread, baby diaper, milk.
Smart vouchers are limiting the item that can be purchased. You can also track where it is spent!

These guys are already doing something similar but they are working with big foundations. http://aid.technology/
When a big foundation is in the process I kind of abstain to trust. Why not directly send the fund to the real person. Block chain provides that. There is no need for intermediary.

Recently UN had some projects in Middle East.

The institutions are aware of this. I think those are great but the real impact can come from the real people themselves!

The witnesses - We should be already feeling good if the needy person is providing enough videos for us to consume. But still, to feel more relieved, the witnesses will be checking whether the needy people are lying. The closer they are physically to the needy are the better. They can physically confirm the living conditions and IDs of the needy. There can be an app with location turned on. We can confirm that the witness are close to the needy.

There could be a way to pay the witnesses. Steem designers did a great job of practically paying for everything 'valuable' that you do on the platform. We can ask for their support in creating the system if we fail to do it.

Think of the witnesses as 'upvoting' the people that they are certain about.

The wealthy - These people will be paying in STEEM, SBD whatever to the needy. They will in return get PRAYER tokens or PRAY. We are always proud of our skills in our LinkedIn profiles. We are proud to have multi year industry experience. But what good are they?

How about showing the world how much PRAYER we have accrued in our lifetime?

Remember, blockchain cannot be deleted or stopped. You will certainly have a PROOF of your good deed to show in the afterlife :)

Little clicks of ours can change a lot in poor countries. Don't think they are too small. For some countries 1 dollar per day is enough. Your clicks will mean a LIFE to them.

Currently; humanitarian relief organizations have huge problems (I think). Accountability (closed books, where did my money go? am I fooled?) . Hard to find the worst conditions of people who are in need. Inefficiency of distribution of goods (heavy goods, costly to send, takes time). Bad reports of results (what really changed, what did I do). Manpower costs (some funds go to actually operation of the non-profit).
