Hello Steemians !! I decided to participate in the writing contest of @positivelife, dedicated to my favorite entertainment genre of all time [horror]. It is also the first time that I dare to enter a writing contest. Probably my narration is not very good but the legend that I tell below since it will freeze the blood to those who do not know it, for the fact that it is so gloomy and the worst, was told to children.

How cruel were our parents

El reconocido ''Coco'' es un personaje utilizado para aterrorizar a los niños, pero yo solo conozco la historia como la cuentan en mi país Venezuela. Los recuerdos que tengo de esta historia son un poco difusos, porque es un personaje que utilizaban para aterrorizarme cuando era pequeña, pues es una historia que se contaba a los niños que se portaban mal, igual que los cuentos de duendes y esas cosas. Yo voy a contarles cómo recuerdo que comenzó su historia.

The famous "Coco" is a character used to terrorize children, but I only know the story as told in my country Venezuela. The memories I have of this story are a little fuzzy, because it is a character that was used to terrify me when I was little, it is a story for those children who had bad behavior, like the fairy tales and those things. I'm going to tell you how I remember that this story began.

La historia del Coco es muy antigua, razón por la que es difícil saber su origen exacto. Esta leyenda es común en Latinoamérica y cada país tiene una variación en cuanto al aspecto del Coco y en la historia. En Venezuela se cuenta que el Coco era un hombre que creció con problemas mentales, le gustaba jugar con los niños, atraerlos, llevárselos, y hacerlos desaparecer... Nadie sabe cómo. Siempre fue un misterio qué le hace El Coco a los niños exactamente, unos dicen que se los come y otros que los asesina.

The history of Coco is very old, which is why it is difficult to know its exact origin. This legend is common in Latin America and each country has a variation in the appearance of the Coco and in history. In Venezuela it is said that the Coco was a man who grew up with mental problems, he liked to play with children, attract them, take them away, and make them disappear ... Nobody knows how. It was always a mystery what El Coco does to children exactly, some people say that he eats them and others that he murders them.

Como consecuencia de las desapariciones las personas del campo empezaron a sospechar de El Coco, pues a menudo se le veía rondando a los chiquillos del pueblo, una noche de esas se agruparon todos los pueblerinos, llenos de rabia y odio fueron a buscarlo para lincharlo a golpes, y finalmente murió esa noche. Desde entonces el Coco aparece para llevarse a los niños que se portan mal.

As a result of the disappearances, the people of the countryside began to suspect El Coco, as he was often seen hanging around the children of the town, one night when all the villagers gathered together, full of rage and hatred, they went to look for him to lynch him blows, and finally, he died that night. Since then the Coco appears to take away children who misbehave.

El Coco viste con harapos, tiene los dedos flacuchos y alargados, parecidos a ramas de árboles y lleva un saco gigante en su espalda donde esconde a sus víctimas. Esta historia es bastante aterrorizante y más cuando te la cuentan de niño, nuestra imaginación de jóvenes se puede decir que es muy amplia y servía como método para hacer que un niño se comportase bien, pero al igual que esta y otras leyendas de nuestro entorno nos causaron pesadillas y escalofríos por las noches.

Coco dresses in rags have thin and elongated fingers, similar to branches of trees and carry a giant sack on his back where he hides his victims. This story is quite terrifying and more when you are told as a child, our imagination of young people can be said to be very broad and served as a method to make a child behave well, but like this and other legends of our environment caused nightmares and chills at night.

Duermete niña, / duérmete ya, / que si no vendrá el coco / y te comerá.

In fact, there is a lullaby that my mom used to sing to me:

Así finaliza mi entrada para el concurso de terror, la ilustré con pequeños bocetos que luego escaneé, realizados con lápices de dibujo H, y 2B. También les invito a revisar un poco más de esta historia, les sorprenderá ver cuantos Cocos existen y todos los aspectos en los que se aparece. Es realmente horripilante
