A positive, happy and healthy relationship is one thing everybody wishes for, not just the relationship between you and your partner but between you and your friends, kids and even the people you work with and see everyday or maybe your classmates. This post will highlight some of the important tips your need to maintain a healthy and happy relationship with people around you.

1) Develop The Empathy Habit

By empathy i mean the ability to tune in to other people's feelings, emotions and thoughts in other to understand exaxtly how they feel and why they feel the way they do. We are humans and not soothe sayers and there is no way we can accurately read people's mind but the best way to achieve this is to always imagine if you are in the person's shoes. Even when you don't agree, your partner or friend will appreciate you atleast understand how he/she feels.

2) Always Give Listening Ears

One of the best ways to make someone feel important, respected and valued is by giving them all your undivided attention when they talk. Do not type or look into your phone, Do not look around while they talk, instead maintain regular eye contact, Do not think of what to say while they talk, and do not interrupt them to complete their sentences. just listen and its okay to take your time to think of what to say before you respond. THis practise help avoid arguement and shouting.

3) Ignore and Accept Differences

We are all human and we all have imperfections, flaws, differences and bad days. Do not always hold people ransome to their differences. Learn to accept people for who they are, focus on that good part that made you want a relationship with a person and invest your time and resources into improving the persons flaws and imperfection. Even when these flaws always comes in the way and causes misunderstanding, do not keep scores of the wrong doing, instead learn to compromise.

4) Trust More and Eliminate Doubt

Among other ingredients needed for a good relationship, like maturity and communication, trust is also very important. Learn to trust your partner and give them the benfits of the doubt. Do not go around snooping through their phones while they sleep or stalk and follow them around all they to know who they are meeting. Your spouse or girlfriend will always have people making advances at them, trust they can handle it, instead of overthinking the whole situation and let them come to you when they need your help.

5) Always Acknowledge Your Wrong Deeds

One thing that makes people to deny their wrong deed everytime is pride and ego. Do not let that come in between your relationship. If you want people to accept your flaws and imperfections, you always have to admit when you are obviously wrong and make plans not to repeat the wrong deeds. Saying "I am Sorry" doesn't make you loose your respect, instead it makes you strong for doing something not everyone is courageous enough to do.

I have to point out that making these effort and sacrifice is for you relationships only because some friendships are not just worth the sacrifices. If you accept someone close to you and further into a relationship with you, then you have to make sacrifices, compromises and adjustments in other to build a very good healthy and happy relationship.
