ย ย ย ย ย Elder Vaughn wasn't concerned with mainstream success, so you won't find much in the way of music videos from Midnite or Akae Beka. In fact, I don't think one can truly apprecialove his works without a basic understanding of African, Greek and North American history, as well as a working knowledge of numerology, astrology, etymology and the apocrypha.
ย ย ย ย ย Numerology and astrology are things I don't deal with in my Rastafari trod, but I find many Rastas attaching powers to these false sciences. Vaughn makes it clear time and time again in his music that we don't have to "believe" these things to be aware how much the I-ncients did.
ย ย ย ย ย The I-ncients lacked modern science, but sent us morsels of wisdom through the coded languages available to them in their time. Vaughn was a scholar of this ancient esoteric knowledge, and dissected it for the world to see in his music.
ย ย ย ย ย "Credited" is a perfect example of Vaughn delivering his own esoteric words for us to meditate on. The song is deep and intense, certainly meant for deep reflection. The chorus reminds us David was Jesse's number 8 son, and it was great caution that caused him to seek protection for his parents when King Saul put a mark on his head.
ย ย ย ย ย The opening of the first verse is very esoteric, but I see it as perhaps a depiction of how beautiful the manifestation of an interconnected skilled artisan Rastafari community is. This message seems to be delivered with a warning that these artisans are seen as vendors by the mistaken. It is followed with a reminder that artisans come in many varieties. Vaughn then reminds us to manifest H.I.M. Haile Selassie's teachings in our lives.
ย ย ย ย ย In the second verse we are reminded to live upright no matter how difficult the circumstances surrounding us may be. The importance of the humble farmer is highlighted along with their vitality to modern economics. The joy of Vaughn's lyrics are that many things are only understood with time and reflection.
Credited to people make the numbers roun'
Credited to trueness make the vibes flood down
Such a good vibes yeah that the world folla' long
Kingship come out of a Kish set down
Judah sen' a David, Jesse number 8 son
Robe, ring, the scepter, the harp and crown
Gone go call the standing ground the back-roun'
Cautious is a unity that make man sound
(Credited to people make the numbers roun')
(Credited to trueness make the vibes flood down)
Stand first in I-verance in ah' Haile High I I-mmunion
For how it all come together well and it's a sure instance
As life is process and stages and preparation
The culmination of the national focus was I-vine interaction
But although the mountain lift off 'til it feel like another dimension
The intention and the results were artisans called vendors by mistaken
As everything was a work of art
From the food to the music, it was a work of art
Like how individual bodies that compose one heart
As a work of art
Rasta festival hold some congregational
It's a livication, a destination
Gemstone of word that establish and topple out of the Emperor mouth
Inna dispensation
Inna meditation
Inna traditional
Inna culture-ashan
Preserve to Rasta, JAH I-mandments
CHORUS REPEAT
As Bashan feed him bredda and put in him heart
It was a humbling experience before ting' start off
A reminder of the attitude of joyous heart
A royal demeanor in doing things difficult
Situational gravity minimality totality
'Til the higher heads nah go brush it off yah to triviality
Farmers inna the economy is a necessity and pivotal
What follow have commerce is a whole long caravan
Rasta festival, wholesome congregational is the livication
A destination
CHORUS REPEAT
