I couldn't agree with you more. When you are kind enough to help people out, charge less because they are just starting, after a while they will stab you in the back.

Had one of those customers, then when they did earn a penny or two instead of paying me a fee more in sync with my effort and expertise, they decide to hire someone else. A firm with higher fees, but more known name.

Then after some time when bills start to get a little too high, they come back to me. Hey sorry man, I would love to help, but I am a little busy already. The nerve.
