Redfish Tuesday- Animals: Wolves

I've always loved wolves, and not because they are generally a the top of the food chain. These creatures are examples of what group work can do. There is often a misconception about the "lone wolf". The idea that wolves are solidarity predators. That is simply not the case. Although you might see a wolf of its own from time to time, you can be assured that their pack isn't to far behind.

Wolves keep other animals in check such as deer, elk etc. Such as the case in Yellowstone national park where without this apex predator the elk and deer population sky rocketed and vegetation started to become scarce. With the reintroduction of wolves, their numbers came back down to a sustainable population. This also helps keep disease down to a minimum as wolves will take down the slowest prey. This effects so many things that people weren't even aware of, such a river courses. See the quick video below.

Beside being the ancestors to our favorite canine companions, these animals show just how precise mother nature can be. Besides, they just look awesome!
