On October 6, 2010, one of the most famous socialnetworks in the world was launched on the Apple App Store. "Instagram" was created by the young Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. This application was initially thought only for Iphone, Ipad and Ipod. As of April 2012 it was extended to Android reaching 100 million active users. Then, in December 2014, it surpassed 300 million consumers. "Instagram" allowed to share photos and videos from anywhere using vintage filters and retro colors. The social network stands out for using a square shape in its photographs in honor of the Kodak Instamatic and the Polaroid cameras. The publications have the possibility of being shared also on Facebook, Tumblr, Flickr and Twitter. In January 2011 Instagram encouraged its customers to add "hashtags" to help describe the photos that other users shared on the same topic. New filters and blur effects were included among other tools. Complementary applications were created such as Reposter, Instamap, Instahood and Instaweather. On April 9, 2012 it was announced that Facebook had acquired Instagram for 1 billion dollars. On May 2, 2013, the possibility of labeling people, brands and places was introduced. Currently, Windows Phone users can also download the application, making Instagram one of the most used social networks from mobile phones.
