Recycling construction and remodeling scrap into useful items

in #recycle6 years ago

A friend of mine installs granite, marble and tile counter tops for new construction and remodels. One of the things they have to do it cut out holes for sinks. So he has hundreds of these round, oval and square granite pieces in his scrap pile.

I borrowed a selection of these scrap pieces and started building small tables. Using 99 Cent furring strips and old garden stakes, I have less than $5 in material in each table. I'm not a cabinet maker, and really don't have the proper tools for making in-door furniture. But with the limited selection I do have, I managed to get it done.

The first table. I had to figure out how to hold the granite.

A dark stain and decorative dowels for the final touch.

A dark stain to contrast the light blues and grays in the granite.
