Repurposing christmas decorations :)
Some people at work today were talking about when they put their christmas trees down, ours didnt comedown till almost feb! [come on, who wants to remove rainbows?]
Our tree we actually did the year before, we had had one for almost ten years that belonged to some ex housemate probably, and it was falling apart. There was a tree, some random decorations and things. I didn't want to buy new everything, as that would be wasteful with what i already had at home, but it needed to be changed up.
We threw out the old tree, and replaced it with a black one [you cant really see that its black, but as i wanted rainbows i wanted the tree to be as dark as possible] and the baubles, we re-purposed/repainted!
It was such a random assortment kicking around the house, so i parted them into 4 piles [for 4 colours, we already had blue] and readied them for paint. The cans i found for $2 each at a cheap shop :)
i was actually pretty slack with the prep work, i didn't sand them back and i didn't prime them either, but half of them were covered in glitter and that just would have made it a lot harder than it needed to be lol. Looped them through the string and fixed them ot the chairs - then had to use electrical tape to fix them to the spot as the wind/spray was just letting them move up and down the string!
The colours came out amazing though and so solid!! After giving them a second coat, using the whole cans [spraying into the wind steals a fair bit of the paint away haha] i let them cure in the wind and sun for a couple of hours.
The next day we put up the new tree and added the decorations, they turned out awesomely!!!
So this is our new Christmas tree for the next ten years :)
[used for 2 years already!!]
Who’d have thought?...
Rainbows in Xmas trees!...
Love it. 💜💙🌈
