One of the hottest jazz voices of our time is, for me personally, Gregory Porter, with which he occupies spaces and touches the most fragile strings. A skilled storyteller who clearly knows how to play the tricks of the profession in his compositions. And actually, he isn't that long in this singing profession but certainly laid some golden eggs to ensure his legacy. So, in my eyes we are dealing with a living legend...

My first acquaintance with Gregory was with the album 'Be good' (His second release album in 2014) after he thrown 'Take me to the Ally' on the market in 2016. Typically something for me to discover gems after data, complete in
non- chronological order. Anyway, I'll always get there ... with a little detour.

Anyway, enough about this intro, time to let the music do its work.
Or maybe one last thing I want to say is; If this track is your taste, please, don't hesitate to check the full albums. I promise you won't regret it. And if you already know his 'growing oeuvre', you know I'm right. 😉

Enjoy the smooth vibes!

Short Biography from wikipedia:

Porter was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Bakersfield. His mother was a minister, he hardly knew his father. His mother often played the music of Nat King Cole, of which Gregory Porter was very impressed and who would be an inspiration for his musical career. After high school, he received a sports fair as an American football player at San Diego State University. Due to a shoulder injury, his top sport ambitions ended. He started singing in local jazz clubs and came into contact with Kamau Kenyatta, who became his mentor in the musical field.
In 1999 Porter was included in the cast of the musical "It Is not Nothin' But the Blues", which was performed on Broadway and won prizes there. Slowly his star rose as a jazz singer. In 2010 his first album Water, produced by Kenyatta, was released and he broke through to an international audience.
In addition to his full and polished voice and his common and friendly appearance during his performances, Porter is also known for his inseparable headgear, which he wears since a skin operation.
