Track Of The Day: Belle & Sebastian - Get Me Away from Here, I'm Dying
Been looking through the program of Latitude Festival where I'll go this friday for a quick hit and run with Palace Winter, and lot's of good stuff to pick from: Solange, The Go! Team, tUnE-yArDs and ... Belle & Sebastian.
I first discovered Belle & Sebastian when I was moving away from home for the first time, and the mixed feelings of glee and melancholy hit me as utterly beautiful and has done ever since. Theres nothing quite like an youthful, untrained male voice singing his heart out. Well, to be honest, their discography is a mixed bunch and it isn't everything that resonates with me, but the first album I heard If You're Feeling Sinister still has a very special place in my heart.
And it's hard to pick only one song, because should it be the sad Fox In The Snow, or Judy and the Dream of Horses (who wants ants in your pants?). Ultimately I must choose Get Me Away from Here, I'm Dying though, because what's more fitting for an young musician moving out of suburbia and into the city?
Ooh! Get me away from here I'm dying
Play me a song to set me free
Nobody writes them like they used to
So it may as well be me
