Song Of The Day: Alessandro Alessandroni - Tea Room
Last time we went to Italy for some Morricone magic. Alessandro Alessandroni is in the same category - if you think of the iconic whistling of Sergio Leone's movies it's Alessandroni whistling, him being a multi-instrumentalist on Morricone's soundtracks. He was a great composer in his own right though.
Tea Room is taken from his 1976 album Fischio Amore Mio which is a album filled with Alessandroni's whistle themes.
It has some of the same qualities as Ennio Morricone's work, but Alessandroni tends to have a slightly more jazzy feel. In a earlier post i wrote about the contemporary film composer Jon Brion, and I feel they have some of the same qualities: jazz drums, a very 70s approach to harmony and a almost popish sense of melody.
Alessandroni died last year, and Fischio Amore Mio was reissued last year in a limited edition of 300 copies on white vinyl.
