Kuih Batang Buruk - A Simple Recipe
It’s the first day of Hari Raya and since we do not have any appointment to attend an open house today, me and my sister-in-law decided to make our own Hari Raya cookie – Kuih Batang Buruk with Nestum.
About Kuih Batang Buruk
Originally, kuih batang buruk is made from wheat flour mixed with rice flour and coconut flour which is refined to be dough and molded into hollow round cylinders, and mixed with fried mung bean powder
The Ingredients
Spring roll pastry
2 cups of Nestum cereal
1 cup of milk powder (we’re using Every Day’s brand)
¼ cup of icing sugar
¼ cup of Horlicks
Cooking oil for frying
2 spoonfuls of wheat flour mixed with water (to act like a glue)
Water
Directions
Roll the spring rolls and seal the ends with wheat glue. Using a scissor, snip the spring rolls diagonally about 1 inch wide.
Heat the cooking oil and deep fry the spring rolls in a small, medium heat. Fry it until they become slightly golden and drain the excessive oil with kitchen paper towel.
To make the dusting, mix all the Nestum cereal, milk powder, icing sugar and Horlicks in a big bowl. Pour the crispy spring rolls inside the bowl and mix it altogether. Voila! And it is ready to serve. I could not stop myself from popping them into my mouth one after another 😂😂
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all steemians around the globe happy Eid-Al-Fitr. Hope you all enjoyed this festive season with families and friends.
