I recently did a write up on making pizza from scratch at home, from making the dough right through to the finished product. Now this was a first run trial with the intention of doing the bulk cook so it was not possible to get a cost calculation per serve (or slice if you will) of pizza. Now that we have made the rest of the pizzas we can focus on the Bulk Cooking to Save Time Effort and Money aspect of this great cheap meal. so here we go :)

On the financial side of the equation there are a number of factors to take into consideration. To start off with there are some ingredients which we already have at home, such as yeast, sugar, salt, ect. which are not part of the "purchased items" cost. However, there was also a number of ingredients which were left over from the "purchased items" which were then used in other meals as well, i think this kind of levels itself off so im giving it a bit of a pass on these discrepancies when it comes to cost calculation, lolz.

Righty o , lets get into it. The cost of the ingredients bought was $30, the first pizza was way too thick so we decided to split the dough from the recipe to make 2 pizzas after the first initial trial. So we have 4 pizzas made with the rest of the ingredients, so that is a total of 6 pizzas if we made them all uniform. Each pizza was cut up into 8 slices.... so lets do the math.

$30 divided by 6 = $5
5 divided by 8 = 0.62c

I like to round up just to be on the safe side so i would call it at 65c per serve of these pizzas, and keeping in mind that they have WAY more toppings than you would get from a bought one in a store or from a franchise, i would say that the value speaks for itself :) Also whatever your dietary needs there are means of making adjustments to this meal to make it work for you.

When cooking fresh these pizzas can take about 15-20 minutes to be cooked in an oven, from a frozen state they can take between 20-25 minutes. so not too much difference in cooking time in the grand scheme of things.

For those wanting to give this a go here is the recipe i posted last week on how i make my pizza from scratch.
