Wheat Pudding - easy, healthy, tasty

I love this dessert. It's light, easy to make, very tasty and, above all, very healthy. There is another reason why I love this dessert very much. Namely, every parent cares what his child eats, how much food is healthy and nutritious. Sweets are always a big problem. They are everywhere and all children love them. That's why parents develop special skills and fight against industrial sweets in a hidden way :) Wheat pudding is a real wealth of nutrients and at the same time it is very very tasty. My child loves this dessert and always asks for more.

In fact, this is not a classic dessert. In Serbia, Wheat Pudding is closely related to the Christian tradition and is symbolically eaten in small rituals as a memory of our ancestors, but it's a topic for another post. Nowadays, this dessert "has moved" to pastry shops. You can even buy it in stores and hypermarkets.

If you are a vegan this is a great dessert for you.

Ingredients:

  • 300 g wheat
  • 200 g fine sugar
  • 500 g ground walnuts
  • 1/4 freshly ground nutmeg
  • 150 ml double cream

Rinse the wheat well before cooking. Put the wheat and twice the amount of water in a pressure cooker and cook for 30 minutes. If you use a pot, cook it for about an hour and a half. Drain well the cooked wheat with hot water, to wash off gluten.

Place the wheat, sugar, walnuts and nutmeg in a food processor. If you like the nutmegs flavor, feel free to put more. Blend about 5 minutes.

Whisk a double crem on medium speed until soft peaks form.

To serve, into serving bowl pour the cream over a mixture of wheat and walnuts.

Volim ja i ove nove šlagaste i kremaste poslastice @jungwatercolor, ali ne mirišu kad se spremaju kao dobre stare kiflice, štrudlice, orasnice, vanilice i nemaju onaj magični "okidač" koji vraća u detinjstvo :)

Uf, odavno nisam jeo zito sa slagom. Ja uvek babu nagovorim da mi sacuva malo zita posle krsne slave, onda samo slag napravim i jedem. :D

Na žalost žito jedemo samo kada je slava ili sahrana, a ekstra je poslastica :) A za slave me uvek nerviralo što uzmeš samo jedno kašiče žita :D Zato sam uzela stvar u svoje ruke :)

To jeste tacno, iskreno, ja samo tad se setim da to jedem. :D
