BANANA CINNAMON PASTEL

The Pastel is a kind of Pie or Pastry made by putting the stuffing on top of the dough, then folded and sealed. Various Pastel shapes are folded like envelopes, triangles and are most famous for semicircles or crescent moon. Pastels are generally roasted, but can also be fried. Pastel stuffing variant is different from many countries because they have their own trademark itself. Pastels can taste Sweet or Savory depending on the stuffing. Variant of the pastel filling taste is very diverse, for the Sweet stuffing can be filled with various kinds of fruits like Apple, Banana, Strawberry, Pineapple and many more fruit can filled and for the Savory can be filled with Meat, Chicken, Fish, Shrimp or Vegetables. This time @ Cook-It-Up presents a Sweet Pastel recipe filled with Banana is perfect served with a cup of tea at the tea time...but they very crispy and crumbly, so takes some time to serve them after they out from the oven. Very Easy to make it and with a Simple Ingredients.

Banana Cinnamon Pastel

Ingredients

  • 115 grams Butter
  • 450 grams Flour
  • 125 Water
  • Little bit of Salt

Filling

  • 3 Bananas
  • 2 spoontables Sugar
  • 1/2t teaspoon Cinnamon
  • Little bit Lemon Juice
  • 1 Egg Yolk, lightly beaten

Making Steps

  1. Mix Butter, Flour, Salt and add Water slowly, just use your finger to knead the dough, mix well until the dough perfectly blended. Covering the dough with moist towel about 30 minute, set aside in a cool place.
  2. While waiting for the dough we will make Banana filling, peel and crush Banana with fork, add Sugar and Cinnamon powder and lemon juice, stir well.
  3. Rolled flat the dough and cut using a 9 cm round shape cutter.
  4. Fill it with 2 spoons Banana Filling in the center of one round . Fold dough over to enclose filling. Using a fork to press edges to seal it , make sure its sealed. And repeat with remaining Banana Filling and dough.
  5. Brush with Egg Yolk and make one small hole to keep air flow out while baked.
  6. Bake about 20 minute in the oven with 180 degree C until crisp and turn to golden.
  7. Remove from the oven and cooling down a few minute because its very crumbly and crunchy.
  8. You can dust them with Icing Sugar before Serve to make them more Beautiful.
