Many of the typical sweets of Venezuela come from the hand of the nuns who came to America in evangelizing missions and who already brought their culinary traditions, which at first they tried to keep as a closely guarded secret, in spite of this the mestizo women, Indian and black women who helped the kitchen were able to take these recipes from the convents to their homes and add a touch of their own to turn them into treasures of Venezuelan cuisine.

Ingredients:

  • 2 coconuts
  • 2 liters of milk
  • 1 kilogram and a half of sugar
  • 1 can of condensed milk

Preparation:

To make canned coconut and milk, the pulp is first extracted from the coconuts, the inner shell is removed and the coconut is grated. Then cook the grated coconut for about 45 minutes in a liter of milk over medium heat until it is soft, then add the rest of the milk and sugar, stir everything very well with a wooden palette preferably, When the mixture is being homogenized, the condensed milk is added, stirring is continued until the resulting mixture is easily removed from the pot. In a wet tray let the mixture rest and then cut the preserved coconut and milk in the form of squares, rectangles or diamonds. You can also use pastry molds to obtain canned coconut and milk in any way you want, triangles, circles, etc.
