Justification of Self-Voting in Relation to the Economic Function of Steemit

in #rebels8 years ago

I have been reading a lot of posts which are based on whales self-voting themselves, their close buddies and using bots to earn more revenue. Most of the posts I read are based on how some people are misusing the system and keeping all the money for themselves, leaving very little for others.

I can understand with more people coming in the field to have a share of the pie known as Steemit. Steemit is a big fortune and it allows anybody to get a share of this huge fortune. So, I asked myself few question

Q. What is Steem?

A: Steem is money.

Q. What is SBD/Steem Dollars?

A: Again it’s money.

Q. What is Steemit?

A: It’s the printing press where money is printed.

Q. What is Steem Power?

A: It’s the printer which prints the money.

Q. And finally what is Voting Power?

A: It’s the paper and ink used to print the money.

These are some of the answers which I come up, for others the answers to these questions could be different. Recently, I saw this concept of people telling what Steemit means to them, and yes everyone has their own individual version of what it means to them.

But, the meaning for money is always the same for all, moreover everyone wants money, no matter how much money one has, it’s always too small for them, the desire for money is never ending, according to the first page of every Economics book, human wants are unlimited. Everyone wants money, very few actually wants to give it to others, perhaps a person about to die soon will give away all his money, maybe to his family, his heir which is common, and maybe there are few who wants to give it to charity so that they can please God and have a nice journey to the after-life. And the dirty politicians who will give money to others before the election to buy votes so that later he can get 100 time more from the public. And to buy goods and services money is spend, but that’s not give away. Few will also do charity for tax relief and hiding away from anti-corruption bureau. Do you know any other reason why someone would give his money to others without a motive?

Competition, Competitors & Malice

Today’s world is like a jungle of competition with all these wild humans hunting for money and wealth, people will come up with ideas to get more for themselves and leave less for others. That’s the reality, that’s the free market principles. In a free market-economy, producers of goods or owners of capital are given the freedom to produce goods and services to satisfy the needs and wants of people who are willing to buy it. Similarly, I think it’s absolutely fine if people want to buy a vote from an upvoting bot. It’s the same as buying money with money, and why not, if we consider money as a commodity which can be bought and sold, how about this, I can say a shop keeper is not selling that shirt which you bought from the mall; rather he is buying your money using that shirt as a currency. On a different note, money is needed to print money, let’s take the example of a central bank printing money, they have their costs right, the printing, the storing of the note number on the database, the electricity, the wages of the people etc, so I can clearly say money is needed to make money, and needless to say when someone is producing something, they are doing it for the propose of making a profit for themselves as well. Recently I read few posts on Steemit where people are displaying anger at the owners of voting bots. The reason for the anger is simple, owners/developers of these bots have automated their income, meaning they will continue to earn money while they sleep, or even if they are dead but Steemit is alive, those bots will continue to generate income. Oh wow, I wish I had that, but since I don’t know how to create a bot, go through so many tests and debugging, here is what I will do, I will just gang up and protest and do whatever it takes to stop his automation, he has that which I don’t have, so let’s just do something and declare him evil. Suddenly I remember the example of Qatar, the world’s richest country. Few decades ago it was just a waste land and people were dying from starvation and they only had fishing as their source of productivity, but then they found oil/gas and found a way to utilize those resources in the most efficient way, they are now the richest country of the world. Obviously, their neighbors can’t accept this easily so they just decided to declare them as terrorists and started putting sanctions, but later they had no choice because Qatar rely on importing their food supplies from their neighbors and their neighbors rely on selling their production to them, there could be other politics matters behind all this which I’m not aware of.

Now comes the real part, the self-voting

“If I can’t rely on myself, then whom should I rely upon? You may one day betray me, but will I ever betray myself? You will one day leave me but I have to stick with myself till my end, and death is the ultimate answer. If you rely on me for everything, then how will you survive if I suddenly die before you & vice-versa.

Self-Sufficiency is the answer.

How about an example? Let’s say your favorite fruit is Mango. You just love it. There is no comparison of your love for Mango. Now imagine you buying the finest piece of mango plant, it’s a small baby, you water it every day, make sure sunlight reaches it properly, use the best fertilizer and ensure no bugs can ever come near it, and after many time the tree grows and starts giving you those wonderful delicious mangoes. And consider this is some magical tree that can only give 10 mangoes every day, what will you do? How much will you eat yourself? How much will you share with your family, how much will you preserve for your best friends, and how much for that friend who gave you all those tips on how to grow that plant into a big tree.

The 10 mangoes I mentioned earlier is the number of upvotes you can give in a given day, considering you want to upvote at a higher VP. And now consider the mango tree as your SP.

To start with, what is the reason behind people to hold their SP for so long and not just selling them and enjoy the money? This is because SP is the tree (at the beginning I mentioned it as a printer but now it’s a tree for the sake of this example) and the mangoes are the Steem/SBD. So, now you tell me, would you go through all the trouble to grow a small plant into a large tree by putting your time and resources so that you could go around in the town and feed the 10 special mangoes to random people despite the fact you worked so hard to grow those? Don’t you think you have the first right on those fruits? And moreover, don’t you think the complete decision is yours about how much you should have for yourself and your family and friends?

I don’t sharing is caring, but if I’m investing my time and resources into something, I must at least get to the breakeven point before I can show others my generosity.

And to begin with, those people who have used their credit cards, sold their bitcoin and altcoin for Steem and transferred those Steem into Steem Power where they got locked up for 13 weeks have taken a risk, and I’m sure there aren’t any saint here who wants to invest their money for the sake of the well being of others. Just imagine the people who have purchased Steem for fiat $1.15 last month now suddenly see price of Steem is $0.85 now. I can’t imagine what if someone thought it’s a good opportunity to invest some money and buy Steem, what if the money they invested was a loan?

.
Giving away makes the heart feel good, people gives their blessings to those who give, giving is harmony, taking is essential for the poor, but greed for those who has but wants more. But before I have the ability to give, I must get some, and what could be better than producing it myself?

And for this conclusion part, we don’t know the other person, we only know what they are publishing, we only know the details of their transactions from their wallet, what if that whale who is being badmouthed by everyone because he never voted for others but is continuously voting for his own contents and using his votes is a person who is having a serious medical condition and needs lots of money for his treatment and what if he is also the sole-provider for his kids? What if he has a huge loan? Or what if he is a really generous person but he doesn’t use his votes on you because he runs a big orphanage. But hey, this is just a hypothesis, and if you really want to fight against someone, please fight against those who uses their power for destruction, that one who would flag valuable contents for no reason and does it for the purpose of his entertainment. Let’s be productive. Let’s self-vote according to our needs. Let’s give away the access capacity. But let’s not force others to give us what they don’t want to give us, and let’s not protest against anybody if they don’t give us anything.

I will be very happy if this posts gets upvoted, but I won't feel sad if it don't. And do forgive me if you find any English error which you will because English is not my first language, also forgive me if I have made any typos

Peace.

You got “that” right!!! For the fact that English is your second language you did very very well to explain.

As long as wealth is there it will be distributed if not today then after many years. If I can't achieve wealth during my life, its ok..but that doesn't mean I should destroy it if I can't have it..but my kids or their kids or their kids.. they will all have a chance to achieve that wealth.. One of the biggest reason why Mughal Empire fell was because if a King had many sons, the brothers will all face each other in war, meaning only the one alive will be the next King.. while for Rajput Dynasty if a King had many sons they will have to participate in many types of exams and the best one will be King and others will be exiled somewhere, in case if one King dies and he had no son, the ones who were exiled or their blood line will become the next King. And this is how Rajput are still there and so are their wealth even in this era of democracy, and they would often give loans to the prime minister or central banks in time of crisis. I was just reading a book based on the era before the rise of British Empire.

I'm going to read this again tomorrow and then make a valid comment. I'm reaserching big investors and their impact on steemit. How much say and power do investors have in in other companies is one of my questions...

I shall wait for your valid comment and I'm curious about your research report

great content!
