Interesting turn of events the last couple years here in Upstate New York with respect to tourism and real estate.

Quick disclaimer - in 2010, there were an estimated 2,732 people living in the town of Hunter, New York. Small town! Just 2 hours from NYC and Hartford, or 4 from Boston and Philly, weekends see upwards of 10,000 people in and out.

Late 2016: Peak Resorts buys Hunter Mountain for $36.8 Million and expands with a $9 Million budget to cut several new trails on the west side in addition to updated lift and snow blowing equipment.

While there were no deaths at Hunter Mountain last year(2018), two skiers were killed on the mountain in 2017, according to the Daily Freeman, a Kingston newspaper. Hunter Mountain is owned by Peak Resorts, a Missouri-based ski resort company. The number of deaths highlights a safety issue at the resort.
