in #raw8 years ago

Most of us love to indulge, but often feel guilty when we do, because the indulgence was not a healthy choice. For instance, we often feel guilty when we indulge in chocolate, because it's not healthy, as its been processed and highly refined with sugar, dairy, and other added additives that are not healthy for our health. But what if I told you that you can make your chocolate desserts and eat it too WITHOUT the guilt?! I've got the healthiest and most delicious brownie recipe you'll ever make, and it's made WITHOUT dairy, sugar, flour, and NOTHING processed and/or refined!

This raw vegan brownie will rock your world in more ways than one! It's healthy and can be enjoyed any time of day and makes the perfect snack. These brownies go well with a glass of plant-based mylk (made with nuts or seeds blended up with filtered water) or even enjoyed with a smoothie. You'll actually feel amazing after eating this and even feel energized, as well.

This brownie is so healthy for you; you can get away with eating it for breakfast! It's made with the purest and rawest form of cacao, which is very different from the cocoa bought in stores or found in processed foods.

You need very little ingredients to make this brownie and you can find all the ingredients at your local health foods store. You will need a food processor at best if you have one, otherwise, a high-speed blender (like a Dash blender) will form perfect brownie dough as well.

If you LOVE chocolate brownies, you're gonna LOVE these guiltless, healthy, low-fat, raw vegan brownies as well!

RAW VEGAN WALNUT BROWNIE RECIPE
Makes about a dozen brownie squares

Please note: if you're allergic to nuts, you can totally make these brownies nut-free by substituting walnuts for organic, GMO-free hemp seeds and Organic GMO-free buckwheat flour from Bob's Red Mill.

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup raw walnuts, soak for 4-8 hours or overnight
10-12 freshly pitted medjool dates
1/4 cup cacao powder or carob powder (in case you don’t want to use cacao)
1/4-1/3 cup almond milk (or any nut milk of choice, or you can use filtered water if you don’t have any nut milk on hand)

GARNISH (Optional)
1 Tbsp – ½ cup raw cacao nibs
Raw cashews, walnuts, almonds, pecans, and/or peanuts (any nuts of choice, to garnish to make chunky. Optional, though)
Nut butter (to spread on top)

DIRECTIONS:
First of all, in a bowl of clean water, soak the walnuts for about 7 to 8 hours, or overnight. Be sure to drain the water out of the walnuts and rinse them out very well until the water is clean. To avoid the entire soaking process, buy sprouted walnuts and you don’t have to soak them yourself.

Secondly – Place the walnuts in a food processor or blender and grind/pulse for a few seconds to form a coarse flour. While machine is running (make sure the lid is on though) and in the rest of the ingredients.
Process or blend until the dough sticks together, almost like a crumb-like dough.
Place the dough at the bottom of a flat plate or baking dish. and spread into a batter like brownie. Serve immediately or place in the fridge for 20 minutes until firm. Enjoy! Store any leftovers in the fridge.

Alternately, you can make brownie bites by rolling the brownie dough into small balls.

Feel free to drizzle chocolate sauce on top.
