Da Brat (eigentlich Shawntae Harris, wurde am 14. April 1974 in Chicago, Illinois geboren und ist eine amerikanische Rapperin, Songwriterin und Schauspielerin.

Da Brat’s real name is Shawntae Harris, was born on April 14, 1974 in Chicago, Illinois and is an American rapper, songwriter, and actress.

Harris wurde auf einem Kris-Kross-Konzert von deren Produzenten Jermaine Dupri entdeckt. Daraufhin erhielt sie einen Plattenvertrag bei dessen Label So So Def Records, nannte sich fortan Da Brat und veröffentlichte 1994 ihr Debütalbum Funkdafied, das, wie auch alle folgenden Longplayer, von Dupri produziert wurde. Die Platte erreichte Platz 11 der Billboard 200 sowie Platz 1 der Billboard R&B-Charts, wurde mit Platin ausgezeichnet und ist das erste Album einer Rapperin, das über 1 Million Tonträger verkaufte.

Harris discovered by their producers Jermaine Dupri on a Kris-Kross-concert. Then she received a recording contract with his label so so def called records, is henceforth Da Brat and released their debut album Funkdafied, 1994 that, as well as all following LongPlayer by Dupri produced. The record reached number 11 of on Billboard 200 and # 1 on the Billboard R & B charts, has been with Platinum awarded and is a rapper's first album, which sold over 1 million recordings.
