Pedophilia, sexual child abuse and childporn

If you dont look at this objectivly to an insanely autistic degree, you will likely be pissed.

These are sensitive topics for sure.

We tend to ignore nuance and throw accuracy out the window, though.
Mainstream media tends to call every molester or rapist of minors - often even pubescent or postpubescent minors - as pedophiles. Even when it comes to actual children (which biologicly and in terms of pedophilia is someone whos puberty hasnt started yet) the numbers are inconsistent and range from 2% to 35% of child rapists being pedophiles. In any case, pedophiles are not the majority of child rapists, as concluded in Dangerous Sex Offenders[1], while a study in 2006 concentrated on only heterosexual offenders found 35% in its sample[2], Peter Fiedler (a german psychologist working with offenders in the justice system) assumes 12 to 20% [3] and Werner Stangl (an austrian psychologist) 2 ot 10% [4].

I think we can all agree that suffering from pedophilia which is a psychiatric disorder is not the Problem. Its sexual child abuse. Does the majority of pedophiles do that? Well, we dont have a precise record of how many pedophiles there are - it seems around 2% of men and 1% of women have at least some attraction to children under 12.
If its even a statisticly significant portion of that, it is clear that most pedophiles dont touch children. In fact, 46% of pedophiles had seriously considered suicide for reasons related to their sexual interest and 13% of those still alive to participate allready attempted it[5]. We dont know how many succesfully did it, obviously...

I see the stigmatisation of merely suffering this disorder as a Problem, espacialy if psychiatrists such as in the US dont have a strong commitment to patient confidentiality.
I personaly knew at least one pedophile who was open about that to me and his family, espacialy those family members which had children. He was just very glad when he finaly got his chemical castration going on, id wager in the US fewer will visit a psychiatrist due to the risks associated with it.

Be that as it may, here my opinions start to come in.
In the treatment of pedophiles and sexoffenders, we are mostly spot on. Pedophilia is not a crime, sexual child abuse is and thats how it should be.
But what about childporn? Now, the production obviously involves sexual child abuse. How about posession? And what about incidental involuntary posession?
This is a risk with a blockchain. The Bitcoin Blockchain for example contains childporn. You can encode pictures into text/ASCII symbols. And that happened with the Bitcoin Blockchain.
I think we can all agree that nobody but the person which added it should be prosecuted - but it cant be removed and now if you mine, you are in posession.
We need to discriminate here.
How about someone seeking out such material? Should such a person be punished and how severely? Now, first things first: The mere posession doesnt harm anyone. The harm has been done in its production. I think they should be monitored at least. And, if you were to look at such material, recognise a person or location and fail to report it to authorities, you are covering for a crime and should be severly punished. We have those extreme cases, involuntary posession and failing to report a crime. Now, what about something inbetween? Should someone who looks at such material and does report the location or person he recognises be punished? Im not so sure of that. What about someone who looks at it and doesnt ever recognise anyone or anything? Im sure he or she should be monitored at least, im not sure if punishment is neccessary unless he somehow supports the production, say by paying for it.

I also see a problem given the ease at which such material can be planted.

In any case, and feel free to disagree with my opinions/tell me what you think, but id hope the difference between pedophilia, sexual child abuse and child porn did come through.

Also, i would like to clarify that when i said "he" for the perpetrator, im not neccessarily refering to males. Becouse, and thats just my personal experience, men who have such interests tend to at most seek out roleplay/ageplay with adults around that theme, while many women seem to be really intersted in doing such things, though often they dont seem to be pedophiles but rather sadists turned on by abusing the most vulnterable.
How do i know this? Well, when i was still interested in partnering, i often made my interest in impregnation and pregnancy known. And i got quite a few women messaging me to announce their interest in making a baby to abuse it or even an existing daughter. I dont know how they got to THAT, i guess they cant see any other reason why one might want to have children?

I hope the facts didnt get drowned out by my opinions and personal experience to much, but it should be rather clear what is factual and what is opinion.
