Well, you can't blame anyone for having the wrong perception when they first come to steemit, when this is the official description:

Of course everyone comes to earn money. And just like you, soon realize it's not as easy as they make it seem.
But, it's good that you stayed. Cause you know this is just another platform to make oyur business visible. Its not at all about tiny upvotes.
